IU Police Department-Bloomington is looking for a new chief. Chief Laury Flint, who is stepping down after five years, is at the helm of the search.
Flint is moving into a new position: IU Public Safety and Institutional Assurance’s first director of threat assessment and engagement.
She will begin at her new position immediately after the new chief is hired, according to PSIA spokesperson Tracy James.
“I have been given the unique opportunity to continue to serve with the exceptional men and women of IUPD while working to protect the entire University,” Flint said, according to a press release. “This is truly the best of both worlds.”
Flint’s newly-minted position will focus on identifying threats before harm occurs.
Other changes to the IUPD framework will include the department’s first chief diversity officer, Wayne James, taking on the additional role of deputy superintendent for regional law enforcement.
IU Public Safety Administrative Lt. Brad Seifers will also move into his new role as university director for IU Emergency Management and Continuity; Support Services, according to the release.
